the-airship-pemzin: One thing I’ve noticed about Pema’s attire is that she wears a red sash instead of a golden one like all the other Acolytes.  I’ve been thinking this could have something to do with the fact that she’s married to Tenzin because it sets her apart and he wears his red cloak as his outer layer as well.  When she was dressed up for Tarrlok’s big event her outer-most layer was the same red as well.  Also, the Acolyte’s sleeves are orange, and Pema’s are gold.  While the other Acolytes seem to all consistently wear a uniform outfit, Pema’s differs from theirs in those ways.  She doesn’t wear anything else to symbolize that she’s married (like a ring or a betrothal necklace) perhaps because the Air Nomads didn’t have those sorts of traditions and weren’t bound by their possessions.  The specific differences in the color of her clothing is what separates her from the other Acolytes and symbolizes that she’s Tenzin’s wife other than the fact that he’s consistently knocked her up for the last ten years. Actually, the base color of their clothes is the red of her sash and the base of Pema’s is orange.  So, they just switched around all the colors apparently.  Still sticking with this though. This is just my theory, but I thought I’d put it out there anyway.
